About

Twice a year, HeyHeydeHaas hosts an evening with inspiring presentations by creatives from around the world and people-they-admire-for-various-reasons. It's called The Old In & Out.

For each edition we invite three extraordinary makers to leave their portfolios at home and share their vision and obsessions with a crowd of around 100 clients, fellow creatives and kindred spirits.
The events are free-as-in-beer and invitation only.

December 15TH 2017
Start: 17.30
Hallenweg 2A

Dear reader, friend,

What do 🐯Jonathan Puckey🐯, 🐲Michiel Schuurman🐲 and 🐻Nick Verstand🐻 have in common?
Apart from being some of the nicest people around, the three of them will shine a light on the why, how, and what of their practices during the fourth edition of HeyHeydeHaas' 🎉The Old In & Out🎉

We're happy to invite you in our studio on Friday the 15th of December for food, drinks, music and talks and raise the glass to a very interesting year filled with growth, websites for people who still read and a 3-in-1 chain reaction device.

As usual, The Old In & Out is free-as-in-🍺 and invite only. Please sign-up and reserve your seat (and one for that special someone) right away: space is limited.

Jonathan Puckey

On our shortlist since the very first edition of The Old In & Out: Jonathan Puckey is one of the prototypes of a new breed of designers. Or coders. Both disciplines don't seem to cover his work completely. Yes, it's absolutely designed (mostly the process is designed) and yes, it's coding (next level creative coding to be precise). In his work these disciplines merely seem tools to realise projects that are on the cutting edge of technology and often play with the fundamental, values and assets of the internet and involvement of the spectator, who quickly transforms into a participant.

Michiel Schuurman

A mean dose of visual friction - that's how the work of Michiel has been described.
When we first saw the posters for the HorseMoveProjectSpace back in 2007, they not only struck a chord with their visual language, they also redefined the function of a poster. They are strong visual statements, challenging presumptions on 'readability' and 'what communicates'. Michiel's signature style always stretches the boundaries of what print has to offer and how much the human eye can handle. We love him for his thoughtful design, bizarre range of visuals, typographical experiments, patterns and the most vibrant of colors.

Nick Verstand

Here's an idea for a Sunday project: get yourself a projector with hemispherical lens and a large spherical display, throw in some algorithmically generated fluid visual projections and a sound composition.Or better yet, get some RGB lasers, a hazer, ask a friend for a 20 minute soundscape and somehow tie it all together. Now hook someone up to your setup via biosensors. Turn off the lights and see what happens.
Welcome to the practice of Nick Verstand - a contemporary artist who creates large-scale immersive art installations, in which visuals, light and sound work in unison - triggering, or triggered by the human body and mind.
Nick's work needs to be experienced. Either as a subject or, and this is equally spectacular, bystander.
